摘要:In the past two decades, detectors and image sensors, particularly those in cell phones and smart watches, have fundamentally reshaped our social life. Nanostructures can reduce cell size, making sensors and detectors miniaturized and portable. At the same time, size reduction has some performance challenges. Advanced signal processing algorithms such as compressed sensing and artificial neural networks can significantly improve the performance of current sensors and detectors. For example, compressed sensing provides high spectral resolution if the measured signal is known to be sparse. Convolutional neural network significantly improve the performance of optical imaging such as spatial resolution and field of view. This talk will introduce the methods of compressed sensing and deep learning, as well as their applications in sensing and optical computing. In addition, we will also discuss how to use micro and nano structures for light modulation and their applications.


报告人简介:

Dr. Yurui Qu received his B.S. in optical engineering in 2014 and doctoral degree in 2019 at Zhejiang University. Since 2019, he works as a postdoctoral research fellow and research scientist at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Dr. Qu focuses his research on optical computing, nanophtonics and intelligent devices. His research has been published in journals such as Nat. Commun., Light Sci. Appl., PNAS., ACS Nano. His work has been recognized with > 1200 citations. Dr. Qu's doctoral dissertation was nominated for the National Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation in Optical Engineering. He is also a reviewer for top journals such as Nat. Commun. and Optica.
